GO-CAD1: CAD presentation of Geotechnical and Chemical Data

This one-day hands-on course for up to 6 delegates explores the use of KeyHOLE in its Mapping & 2-dimensional reporting and presentation role. Skills are taught in the following applications:

  • KeyHOLE
  • HoleBASE Data Management System

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Engineers & Environmental Scientists involved in the presentation of the results of Ground Investigations.  Drawing Office staff involved in the production of geotechnical and geoenvironmental maps and diagrams.

THE PRINCIPAL AIMS ARE TO: -

  • Review basic AutoCAD skills including the creation and editing of 2-dimensional drawing entities and manipulation of the graphical environment.
  • Discover how to create from HoleBASE the various forms of digital output required for KeyHOLE.
  • Achieve proficiency in the use of KeyHOLE to create symbols and diagrams from site investigation data stored in HoleBASE.
  • Discuss the various options for the display of geological data, chemical concentrations, and engineering parameters on site plans and section diagrams.
  • Demonstrate the basics of attaching and displaying external maps and survey drawings in AutoCAD Map.


On completion of this course you should be able to: -

  • Create in AutoCAD exploratory hole location maps showing geological legends & contamination test results.
  • Produce clear and concise sectional diagrams of geological strata enhanced by engineering data in various graphical forms.
  • Produce contour plots for various types of geotechnical and geo-environmental data.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Delegates considering this course should have the following:

  • A working knowledge of Microsoft® Windows® Vista or Microsoft® Windows® XP
  • A basic knowledge of AutoCAD, as may have been gained on the AutoCAD Part 1: Essentials course
