As well as teaching skills in using KeyHOLE’s digital modelling engine, this one-day hands-on course for up to 6 delegates includes basic training for manipulating AutoCAD’s 3-D environment and rendering. Skills are taught in the following applications: -
WHO SHOULD ATTEND? Engineers & Environmental Scientists involved in the analysis of Ground Investigation Data. Drawing Office staff involved in the production of 3-dimensional site investigation drawings and presentations.
THE PRINCIPAL AIMS ARE TO: -
-
Grasp the principals of 3-dimensional ground modelling using the TIN method.
-
Learn how to create single and multiple 3D surfaces both from AutoCAD entities such as borehole/survey point symbols, Points, lines and polylines, and from external XYZ data.
-
Discover how to use ground models to achieve a wide variety of outputs, both presentational & analytical.
-
Master the manipulation of AutoCAD’s 3D graphical environment.
ENABLING OBJECTIVES On completion of this course you should be able to: -
-
Describe the basic principles of a triangular digital surface and list its uses for geotechnical and geoenvironmental analysis and reporting.
-
Create a number of 3-dimensional surfaces from entity or XYZ data and carry out simple analysis task such as volume calculations and isopachite plots.
-
Superimpose a number of related section diagrams to assess the stratigraphy along a given line and to produce a set of cross section diagrams along that line.
-
Display one or more 3-dimensional surfaces as 3D mesh or triangular face patterns, manipulate the viewpoint and viewing angle in azimuth and elevation, and use shading and rendering to enhance the visual effect.
